DES Welcome Husky Pups From Principal Michelle Beito

“Welcome Back” to all Husky Pups and “Welcome” to any new students who will be attending our National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence! Delta Elementary is one of the best schools in the United States! I can assure you that our students and staff are top notch! It has been a very busy summer but it is time to focus on beginning a new school year at Delta Elementary! I hope everyone is as excited to return to school as I am!

Thursday August 27th is our first day of school with students. Students will be allowed in the building at 8:00 a.m. and dismissed at 3:15 p.m. Each Wednesday students will be dismissed at 2:15 p.m.

Class lists will not be ready until Wednesday, August 26th, after 12:00 p.m. Classroom lists will be posted at the front entry of the school.

All kindergarten students must register as soon as possible. If you attended Kindergarten Round-up last May, you still need to register your child for kindergarten and schedule him/her for the kindergarten assessment. Please bring shot records, birth certificate and physical.

Be mindful that there are two driveways leading to the school. One driveway is a ONE WAY for busses and staff only. The door at that entrance will be secured once students arrive at school. The visitor entrance is at the front of the building. This is a ONE WAY drive with NO PARKING. Parents who drop off children need to stop the legal distance from the crosswalk for our children’s’ safety. If you plan to accompany your child into the school, please park in the parking lot. The front door will be the only entrance into the building for parents and community.

Delta Elementary will host an Open House on Tuesday, September 1st from 5:00-7:00 p.m. We cordially invite all parents to come meet our staff and tour the school. Open House is a perfect time for parents and teachers to get to know each other.

Although it might sound crazy, it is never too early to begin purchasing winter gear for your child. Winter often comes unexpectedly and all too soon in Delta! Every child needs to be adequately dressed on the first cold day. Every student MUST have: a good winter coat, snow pants, winter boots, good winter mittens/gloves, a cap and a facemask or scarf to protect from the wind. Students go outside for recess until the temperature reaches -20 degrees or colder. It is a parental responsibility to have children safe and prepared for cold weather.

School attendance is of vital importance at Delta Elementary. Students need to be in school every day. Good attendance is one of the key indicators of becoming a successful student. On those occasions when your child is not healthy, please call the school office at 895-4696 before 10:00am and let us know he/she will be absent.

Delta Elementary is making a team effort to ensure your child is safe and receives a quality education. We are promoting safety, responsibility and respect. It is important for parents and community members to join our efforts so that we may mold productive citizens in our society. Please come and visit our school often. Get involved and join our parent PRIDE group. PRIDE meetings are held monthly. Please watch for the times in your classroom newsletters and plan to attend.

I know that 2009-2010 will be an exciting school year. Delta Elementary has a very dedicated team of professional educators who will do whatever it takes to make this year a positive educational experience for each and every student. Once again… WELCOME Husky Pups!

There will be no bus passes this year. No students will be allowed to ride any other bus outside of their assigned bus. Parents will need to make other arrangements for alternate transportation needs.

During the 2009-2010 school-year, school will start at 8:40 A.M. and will be dismissed at 2:55 P.M. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. On Wednesday, school will be dismissed at 1:55 P.M.

Please discuss your availability with the front office. We would love to see as many parents as possible on a regular basis! Fort Greely Middle School is a truly awesome place. The Staff are very engaged in their promotion of academic excellence. My vision for Fort Greely Middle School will be to bring out the best in students, staff, the community and myself! DHS Welcome Huskies From Principal Grimes

Welcome Huskies to the newly renovated Delta High School and the 2009 – 2010 school year! The high school has undergone a substantial transformation this summer, which includes an upgrade to the exterior of the building, replacement of all exterior windows, and replacement of interior lights. These improvements will insure that the students, staff, and faculty will be warmer during the cold winters. In addition to the weatherization improvements, the location of the main entrance and visitor parking has changed. The main entrance and visitor parking is now located on the east side of the building facing the School District Office on N. Clearwater. The construction crews, faculty, and staff are working diligently to insure we have a smooth opening on the first day of school.

I hope you are looking forward to a productive and exciting school year. Let me challenge each of you to come to school with a positive attitude and a personal commitment to maximize your educational experiences this year. If we all face the challenges we encounter throughout the year as an opportunity to improve our school and ourselves, we will all reap the benefits of our efforts.

The first day for students is Thursday, August 27, 2009. Please remember students are not allowed inside the building until 8:15 a.m. and are to leave the building by 3:45 p.m. Student parking has also undergone some changes at Delta High School. Seniors will continue to park on N. Clearwater behind the teachers. Students enrolled in the work-study program will park in the Delta Career Advancement Center parking lot and all other students will park in the parking area where busses drop off. All vehicles parking on campus must be registered.

I look forward to meeting each one of you and having a very productive school year.

Go Huskies!
Robert Grimes, Principal
