Outstanding Alternative Energy Project Draws Attention

The Tok School Wood Fired Biomass Energy System is cutting edge technology and the first heating system of its kind in the state.

With the power head to provide electrical energy as well as heat, it will also be the first High School in the nation to provide both heat and power.

Tok School is the first major alternative energy project of its kind to come on-line through the efforts of the Administration, AEA, and the Legislature.

Governor, Lt. Governor, Commissioner of Natural Resources, Legislators, Alaska Energy Authority, University of Alaska, Congressional delegation, School District heads, Native Corporations, Chambers of Commerce, Local government representatives, Industry representatives, and the public.

An opportunity to address the media on site will occur at the Tok School facility at the Grand Opening at 1:00 pm January 7th 2011.
