Photo of the day August 30

This image shows Dean just after being presented with a team-signed classic old softball (purchased from Joanne Heitman) as a token of appreciation from the Cummings Sawmill Softball Team. Dean has been our sponsor for many years now and did not miss a game all season. We finished up our league play in first place (B,C, and D leagues) and placed 5th out of 16 teams at the State Tournament in Anchorage last weekend. A final presentation to Dean will be given at a team end-of-season BBQ that was crafted by Jo at the FGA Wood Shop. Photo Courtesy Mike Kingston

Photo of the day July 21

In between musical acts at the Salcha Fair this year, I observed this spider crawling on my vehicle, making a web. It was amazing watching this spider go about its business and I was wondering why God put that splash of orange in between the eyes. Does anyone know what kind of spider this is?  Photo Courtesy Michael Kingston

Gayle Parsons sent an email this morning: This spider is called a Crab Spider. In google type in yellow crab spider and you can read all about this insect and view other photos.  Thanks Gayle.

Photo of the day July 7

During the July 4th weekend, I took this image near Bolio lake in a
rainstorm. So much extra weight on the petals and yet, they still
held their own and are Beautiful as well. So much Great Beauty here,
even in the rain.  Photo Courtesy Michael Kingston

Rainbow Mountain is approximately 75 miles south of Delta.  It’s a beautiful drive through the Isabel Pass area.

Gulkana Glacier approximately 80 miles south of Delta, with a nice view of Summit Lake

Both of these spectacular views can been seen on your Memorial Day weekend if you heading south.  Have a safe and Happy Memorial Day weekend.

This graphic of Annette Hannan is a tribute to her marathon effort at Delta’s Relay For Life 2011. She DID NOT STOP walking laps the whole time – last year she did 18 hours and decided to go the distance this year. Photo Courtesy Michael Kingston/CRTC

Seeing Devil’s Thumb come into view as the Black Hawk made a wide turn to the East, I immediately was thinking of the skiing opportunities there.  It is a great mountaineering skiing area and I highly recommend climbing up there for the fantastic view.
