Community Meeting/Interior Alaska Hospital Foundation

Thursday, August 25
7pm
City Hall

On behalf of the Interior Alaska Hospital Foundation, Mr. Bob Brummond, a retired Hospital Administrator will speak Thursday at a Town Hall Meeting at 7:00 P.M at the City Hall.

Mr. Brummond spoke with Chamber members and Senator Coghill’s Chief of Staff last Thursday at their noon luncheon. The meeting was well attended and support was shown by Dr. Ray and Mrs. Andreassen and Dr. Norman Petty. Dr. Petty worked with Mr. Brummond in a rural hospital in Lusk Wyoming.

Dr. Andreassen shared his support and optimism for the Foundation’s desire to study the feasibility of having a small rural hospital in Delta Junction. He stated he was in 100% support of the group and vowed he would graciously open his clinic records to the Foundation for the statistics needed to do the study.

The Foundation is seeking community input and financial support from businesses and members. The future is in our hands. The Doctors and Staff at Family Medical have seen the growth and need for expanded emergency/overnight and long term medical care in our Community and the outreaching areas. Will you help us take a look and see if our Community can support a small rural hospital?

Please attend this every important Community Meeting. Your input and support would greatly be appreciated. If you cannot attend, your input and tax deductible contribution may be mailed to the Interior Alaska Hospital Foundation, at P.O. Box 671, Delta Junction, Alaska, 99737.

It wasn’t that many years ago we clipped coupons to get our first fire truck. There was a need then and there is a medical need now. We are asking for your help.

Respectfully Submitted,
The Interior Alaska Hospital Foundation
Mary K. Baker Kaspari, John B. Lewis III, Andrea S. Richard, Troxell Hebert, Jeannie Pinkelman, Dwight and Janize Nissen, Allison Long, Bob Brummond.

Public Transportation into Fairbanks Meeting May 19

The Tanana Chiefs Conference (TCC) recently initiated a project to improve transit service in several corridors around Fairbanks adjacent to tribal lands of Conference members.

The Federal Transit Administration through the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (AKDOT&PF), and the U.S. Department of Agriculture provided funding for the project via the Community Transportation Association of America (CTAA).  Technical assistance for the project is being provided by RLS & Associates, Inc. (RLS).

During the week of May 16, 2011, teams comprised of representatives from the CTAA, TCC, AKDOT&PF, and RLS will conduct a series of public meetings in eleven villages along the highway corridors leading into Fairbanks.  These public meetings will serve as an opportunity to (1) assess unmet transportation needs; (2) document current travel patterns; (3) inventory existing transportation resources within each village or community; and (4) identify major trip origins and destinations.

Following the public meetings, the study team will document the qualitative findings and begin to quantify several other characteristics that measure potential transit demand.  Ultimately, the study will identify most appropriate operational, management, and administrative structures for public transportation service on the identified highway corridors.

Please attend the public meeting in your area to help the study team understand your transportation needs!

The public meeting in Delta Junction will be held Thursday, May 19th from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at the Delta Junction Community Center.  Refreshments will be provided and the meeting facility is wheelchair accessible.

Redistricting Strategy Meeting For Everyone!

April 25th Monday from 6-8 there will be a community gathering at Birch Brothers Pizza to discuss Delta’s Electoral District needs.

Delta has been split between two legislative districts ( Districts12 and 6) for 10 years. If you feel that Delta, Deltana, Big Delta, Pogo and Ft. Greely should be one unified legislative voting district come to this meeting so that we all can be united in our request to the Redistricting Board.

The Board is meeting in Delta City Hall on Tues, April 26th from 10-noon for public comment from US. They want to hear from us.  We need to be able to tell the board what works best for our community. Let’s meet together and talk about our needs as a united community.

Even if you can not be at the Tuesday public hearing you can still speak up by an email or fax to the board. Join us as we work to give our community a strong voice in the Legislature.

For more information please call Dawn Grossmann (310)-804-0412 or Debbie Joslin 895-4565 before 8PM.
