By Tennessee Williams – Directed by Frank Yaska
A tragic drama reveals the very depths the character of Blanche du Bois, a woman whose life has been undermined by her romantic illusions, which lead her to reject the realities of life. The pressure brought to bear upon her by her sister, with whom she goes to live in New Orleans, intensified by the earthy and extremely ‘normal’ young husband of the latter, leads to a revelation of her tragic self-delusion and, in the end, to madness.

This absurdist comedy places Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso in a Parisian cafe in 1904, just before the renowned scientist transformed physics with his theory of relativity, and the celebrated painter set the art world afire with cubism. The playwright plays fast and loose with fact, fame and fortune as these two geniuses muse on the century’s achievements and prospects, as well as other topics with infectious dizziness. Other characters include Picasso’s agent, the bartender and his mistress, an elderly philosopher, an idiot inventor and Picasso’s date.

The story assumption is that a few modern people can cast spells and perform feats of supernaturalism. Gillian Holroyd casts a spell over an unattached publisher to keep him away from rival. He falls head over heels in love with her at once and wants to marry her. But alas, witches, unfortunately, cannot fall in love. Will Gillian stay in her witch incarnation or renounce her sisters from the man who loves her? True love never runs smoothly nor without gales of laughter.
