This Academy offers awareness training and the unique opportunity to learn about career options in real time. The skills learned can be transferred to many different industries.

the Delta Career Advancement Center

Ten candidates will be selected for each Academy, ages 17 to 24. Must possess high school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license. This Academy offers awareness training and the unique opportunity to learn about career options in real time. The skills learned can be transferred to many different industries.

Construction is a drug-free environment and participants may be tested at any time. Participation in the Academy is free to successful candidates with daily lunches provided. Room and board may be provided for out of town participants

Meet Cooperative Extension agents Phil Kaspari, Roxie Dinstel, Milan Shipka, Marla Lowder and CES director Fred Schlutt. Hear about 4H, energy class ideas, and discuss what you want to learn.

Interim Dean Michele Stalder and members of the University of Alaska Fairbanks Community and Technical College (UAF CTC) team who are delivering classes in Delta will be here. Meet individually to discuss your options for earning a degree and learn about UAF support services designed to get and keep you on track.

Learn about construction trades apprenticeships and training opportunities made available in Delta through our partnership with Alaska Works Partnership and try out a welding simulator.

Listen to how high school Construction Trades can make a difference in finding a career path and in learning basic need-to-know math and reading skills!

If English is not your first language, then this workshop might be for you! You will take an online assessment and find out your skill level. You will cover such topics as writing and sentence structure, note taking, grammar practice exercises and group writing and discussion.

Call Cheryl at 895-4605 to sign up for this class by March 2. Because there will be one-on-one time with each student, class size will be limited. The instructor must know how many plan to participate.

Soft drinks, water and snacks will be provided; bring a bag lunch.
