Access Alaska Coming Friday

On Friday, 18 November 2011, Access Alaska will be at the Delta Community Center From 10 am to noon to assist with Medicare enrollment, Independent Living assistance, and Personal Care Attendant services.  Assess Alaska staff will also have a table at the Bazaar, until 3 pm.

Access Alaska helps seniors, youths, and people of all ages who experience barriers or home safety issues due to mobility loss, vision loss, hearing loss, mobility issues, mental health issues, learning disabilities and other disabilities.  Some of the programs they offer are:

- Personal Care Attendant program, to help people live comfortably in their own homes.
- Transition services for students entering adulthood, career guidance and planning . . .
- Assistive technology, adaptive equipment and resources; wheelchairs, walkers, grab bars . . .
- Benefits counseling and assistance with Medicare enrollment.
- Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security Disability enrollment assistance and   other state assistance programs.

Need an Open Door to Independent Living: Access Alaska Can Help

Access Alaska is a private, non-profit, consumer-controlled organization that provides independent living services to elder Alaskans and Alaskans who experience a disability.  As an Independent Living Center, our mission is to encourage and promote the total integration of people who experience a disability to live independently in the community of their choice.  To accomplish this mission Access Alaska provides numerous services such as:  adaptive equipment loan, consumer directed personal attendant services, home accessibility modifications, independent living skills instruction, youth transition from school to work and many more.  Access Alaska has been providing these services for over 25 years assisting thousands of Alaskans and their families .  A consumer controlled non-profit with a philosophy of personal choice, dignity, empowerment, and continued independence touches all Alaskans.
