Registration is now open for the Spring 2012 Master Gardener Class, sponsored by the UAF Cooperative Extension Service-Tanana District Office. The Master Gardener Program is a 40-hour volunteer training program. Participants are required to give 40 hours of volunteer service to the community within two years of successfully completing the class.
The class will be held Mondays and Wednesdays, 6 to 9 p.m., beginning Monday, Feb. 20, through Wednesday, April 11. (No class March 12 or 14.) Location will be the Tanana District Office at 724 27th Ave., Suite 2 and 3, located on the backside of the Fairbanks Community Food Bank building.
Class will cover basic horticulture, soil structure, houseplants, vegetable and flower gardening, fruit and berry crops, greenhouse gardening, composting, home landscaping and much more.
Registration fee is $125 per person with a 40-hour volunteer commitment. The fee includes Sustainable Gardening: The Alaska Master Gardener Manual, available for pick up at the first class.
